George Stewart

STEWART, GEORGE, 1848-1906.

Canadian literary journalist. Born in New York, New York, in 1848. Came to Canada as a child in 1851. Died in 1906. Biographical information available in The Oxford companion to Canadian literature, 2nd ed., p. 1096-1097.
Collection consists of card photographs collected by G. Stewart while working as editor and theatre reviewer for newspapers in Saint John, N.B., and Quebec City, P.Q. Most photographs identify the photographer and are inscribed and dated. In addition to photographs of actors, actresses and singers, collection includes photographs of Lord and Lady Lorne and four unidentified individuals.
Donated by Dr. Carol Fullerton and H.D. Fullerton in 1985.
